Lincoln-The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced today that Nebraska All-Americans Craig Brester and Stephen Dwyer were selected to its 2007-08 All-Academic Team. The two Huskers joined 86 other wrestlers around the nation to earn the honor.
Brester, a sophomore mechanized systems major, earned the award for a second consecutive season. Dwyer, a sophomore was has not declared a major, was named to the list for the first time. Both wrestlers were named to the academic All-Big 12 team and earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships in March. Brester finished fourth and Dwyer claimed eighth.
To be eligible for the NWCA All-Academic Team, a wrestler must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, and be an NCAA qualifier or won 60 percent of his total scheduled matches. Wrestlers may also qualify if they were an All-American and have a 3.0 GPA.
