Nebraska's Mark Manning, Tony Ersland and Mike Greenfield will lead the 2009 Fall Coaches Clinic at the Devaney Center on Nov. 6.
Lincoln - Head Coach Mark Manning and the Husker coaching staff will conduct their annual Fall Coaches Clinic on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at the Devaney Center. Nebraska School Activities Association assistant director Darin Boysen will be a guest speaker, while coaches will also have the chance to learn from Nebraska All-Americans Jason Powell and Brandon Browne.

Manning and the Huskers will lead the clinic at the Devaney Center around Nebraska's Red-White Intrasquad. The 2009 squad has begun regular-season practices and is gearing up for another run to the NCAA Championships. The Red-White Intrasquad (Wrestle-offs) will help the NU coaching staff determine the starting lineup as the Huskers open the season on Nov. 15 against Wisconsin at the NU Coliseum.

The clinic begins with opening comments from Manning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a program from Boysen on high school wrestling rules. Boysen is responsible for the NSAA's wrestling weight management program.

The afternoon features two technique sessions from two of the best additions to the Husker coaching staff in program history, Jason Powell and Brandon Browne. Both were All-America selections, as Powell captured the 2004 national championship at 125 pounds, while Browne finished fourth at the 2009 NCAA Championships at 174 pounds. They are each in their first season with the NU staff, as Powell is the strength and conditioning coach and Browne is the club coach.

The Red-White Intrasquad begins at 6 p.m., and will feature 15-20 matches on two mats. The Huskers will be showcasing four returning national qualifiers, including 2009 national champion Jordan Burrroughs (157) and 2009 All-American Craig Brester (197). The Huskers have finished fourth at the past two NCAA Championships and won a share of the 2009 Big 12 title last March. This year's NCAA Championships are in Omaha from March 18-20.

Attendees will also receive a Nebraska wrestling T-shirt, three meals and an invitation to an evening social.

Pre-registration is encouraged and coaches can sign up by clicking on the registration form above. Cost is $95 before Oct. 30 and $100 at the door. Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 6. Contact the wrestling office by calling (402) 472-9430 for more details or e-mail Ellen Shutts at eshutts@huskers.com.
