Huskers Host Over 300 at 2010 Nebraska Soccer Coaches Clinic

Lincoln - More than 300 soccer coaches from across North America converged on Lincoln, Nebraska over the weekend for the 2010 Nebraska Soccer Coaches Clinic. Joining forces with World Class Coaching, the Husker soccer staff put on one of the best seminars in the country

"Our Coaches Clinic was such an encouraging weekend," NU head coach John Walker said. "The clinicians presented some great material drawing on their vast experiences in the game. Six years ago we ran our first coaches clinic and had 12 coaches attend.  It is really gratifying to see the event grow and see the interest in our sport develop. This is a great partnership with World Class Coaching."

This year's event featured Randy Waldrum as one of the clinicians, who coached the Notre Dame women to the 2004 national championship. The clinic was held inside the Hawks Championship Center, beginning Friday evening and continuing all day Saturday.

Other clinicians included Ian Bridge, coach of the Canadian Under-17 Women's National Team, and Scott Piri, a conditioning and performance coach who has worked with the U.S. and Mexican National Teams. The Nebraska soccer coaching staff and players were also heavily involved, including assistant coaches Wally Crittenden and Michelle Demko. NU Athletic Director Tom Osborne served as a guest speaker.

The clinicians spoke and taught both tactical and technical instructions, giving participants an opportunity to learn and build on their own coaching schemes.
