The Nebraska baseball team traveled to Oklahoma City Sunday night for this week’s Big 12 Championship. The Huskers are the No. 4 seed in the tournament after Sunday’s series win at Kansas – the fifth Big 12 series the Huskers have won in the last six conference weekends.
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship returns to AT&T Bricktown Ballpark for the ninth time in conference history from Wednesday, May 23 to Sunday, May 27. For the second straight season, the event will feature four-team pool play with the top eight squads in the standings competing based on conference winning percentage.
The Huskers are joined by Big 12 regular-season champion Texas, fiffh-seeded Texas A&M and eighth-seeded Kansas State in Division I, which will play on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The best record in each pool will advance to Sunday’s title game.
The Huskers (29-23, 14-13) will open tournament play against Texas A&M on Wednesday, May 23, at 10 a.m. (central). On Thursday, NU will take on Kansas State at 7:30 p.m. and will wrap up pool play against Texas Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Huskers will be seeking their fifth Big 12 Tournament title, as they won in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2005 while also finishing second in both 2002 and 2006.
