Huskers Hammer Wildcats, 11-1

Nebraska’s offense plated 11 runs on 11 hits, while the pitching staff limited the Kansas State Wildcats to one run on three hits in an 11-1 Husker victory on Tuesday night at Hawks Field. The Huskers are now 8-2 over their last 10 games and 13-10 on the year heading into Big Ten play this weekend at Indiana, while the Wildcats fell to 15-10 on the season.

Miller Named Candidate for Senior CLASS Award

Senior first baseman Ben Miller has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate baseball. A native of Clive, Iowa, Miller was one of three Big Ten baseball players named to the list. He was joined by Illinois’ Pat McInerney and Ohio State’s Jalen Washington.

Huskers Return Home to Face Wildcats

Following a five-game road trip to the state of California last week, the Nebraska baseball team (12-10, 0-0 Big Ten) returns home for a non-conference game against the Kansas State Wildcats at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday night at Hawks Field.

Huskers Sweep Doubleheader, Take Series at Cal Poly

The Nebraska baseball team (12-10, 0-0 Big Ten) swept a doubleheader from the Cal Poly Mustangs (8-15, 0-0 Big West) on Saturday at Baggett Stadium and took the series 3-1. Nebraska held off late rallies from the Mustangs in both games, winning game one, 6-5, and game two, 6-4.

After dropping yesterday’s game 3-2 on a walk-off single, the Nebraska baseball team (11-10, 0-0 Big Ten) took the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader by a score of 6-5 over the Cal Poly Mustangs (8-14, 0-0 Big West).

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the game-winning run on second base the Cal Poly Mustangs (8-13, 0-0 Big West) got a walk-off single Nick Meyer, giving the Mustangs a 3-2 win over the Nebraska baseball team (10-10, 0-0 Big Ten). The win evened the four game series at a game apiece, with the teams meeting for a doubleheader tomorrow.

The Nebraska baseball team (10-9, 0-0 Big Ten) held off a late charge by the Cal Poly Mustangs (7-13, 0-0 Big West) on Thursday night at Baggett Stadium, as the Huskers took the series opener 3-2.

San Luis Obispo " Due to expected rain on Friday night in the San Luis Obispo area, Nebraska’s baseball game at Cal Poly has been moved from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. (CT). The Huskers open their four game series with the Mustangs tonight at 8 p.m. (CT). The teams are also scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday that starts at 3 p.m. (CT).

Huskers Continue Spring Break in San Luis Obispo

The Nebraska baseball team (9-9, 0-0 Big Ten) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-6 loss at CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday night, and will now head west to San Luis Obispo, Calif., where it will play four games in three days against the Cal Poly Mustangs.

Two-Out Runs Cost Huskers in 8-6 Loss

Playing in its first true road game of the season, the Nebraska baseball team (9-9, 0-0 Big Ten) held a 6-4 lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (11-5, 0-0 WAC) scored four runs, all with two outs, on their way to an 8-6 comeback victory. While the Huskers scored three of their runs with two outs on the night, Bakersfield plated all eight of its runs with two outs.

After going 6-2 during an eight-game homestand, the Nebraska baseball team (9-8, 0-0 Big Ten) heads to California for the week while classes are out on campus at UNL for Spring Break.

The Nebraska baseball team (9-8, 0-0 Big Ten) finished its first weekend sweep of the season on Sunday with a 6-2 victory over the College of Charleston Cougars (8-12, 0-0 CAA) at Hawks Field. The Huskers played well in all three facets of the game this weekend, as NU’s pitching staff allowed four total runs over the three-game series, the Husker defense committed one error and the offense totaled 22 runs 29 hits.
