Stephenson Earns Top-15 Finish at Winter Cup Finals

Las Vegas, Nev. --- Chris Stephenson represented the Nebraska men's gymnastics team at the Winter Cup Finals on Saturday at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The Fishers, Ind., native finished 15th out of 42 competitors with a two-day all-around score of 157.400, including today's all-around score of 79.10.

Chris Stephenson and Evan Hymanson of the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team have been invited to represent the Huskers at the prestigious Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev., and will get a shot at making the USA National Team. The competition is a two-day event and will feature 96 athletes from around the country, including 2016 Olympic Team members Chris Brooks, Jake Dalton, Sam Mikulak and Alex Naddour. Preliminary sessions will take place on Feb. 16, while the finals will be on Feb. 18. Top finishers at the finals will be selected to compete for the USA National Team.

Anton Stephenson Earns Individual Title at Pac-12 Invitational

Berekely, Calif. --- Anton Stephenson claimed the individual event title on vault at the Pac-12 Invitational on Saturday with a season-best score of 14.75. As a team, the Nebraska men's gymnastics team placed second with a score of 408.800, which included a season-high vault score of 71.100. Stanford took first with 422.250, while Cal placed third (404.050) and Arizona State finished fourth (387.700).

The No. 6/7 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team continues a series of away meets when it heads west this weekend for a quad meet against Cal, Stanford and Arizona State University on Feb. 11 in Berkeley, Calif.

Castro Earns Third Consecutive Event Title in Minnesota

Minneapolis, Minn. --- For the third consecutive competition, junior Antonio Castro claimed an event title - this time on pommel horse with a score of 13.95 against Minnesota and the Minnesota Club Team on Saturday at Sports Pavilion. In addition, Connor Adamsick (floor) and Anton Stephenson (parallel bars) each claimed first place on their respective event. It was Adamsick's first-career event title.

NU Set for Big Ten Matchup Against Minnesota

The No. 4/7 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team begins a long stretch of away meets this weekend when the team travels to Minneapolis, Minn., for a conference matchup against the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Minnesota Club Team on Feb. 4. The competition will be held in Sports Pavilion and is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The meet will also be live streamed on BTN Plus.

Stephenson, Castro Clinch Event Titles Against OU

Chris Stephenson and Antonio Castro claimed individual event titles with season-high scores in the Huskers home opener against No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Stephenson earned the floor title with 14.75, while Castro grabbed his on pommel horse with 14.80. This was the second consecutive meet that Castro claimed an event title, after the Pinecrest, Fla., native earned the vault title at the West Point Open on Jan. 14. Stephenson also won the all-around with a score of 82.95.

Huskers Add Illinois Transfer

Nebraska men’s gymnastics Coach Chuck Chmelka announced Friday that Illinois transfer Austin Lober has joined the team as a walk-on. The Albuquerque, N.M., native has four years of eligibility left and will be able compete this season for the Huskers.
