Huskers Return to Arizona, Face Oregon State and Utah

For the second straight week the Nebraska baseball team (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) will be in the Phoenix area, as the Huskers will be in Surprise, Ariz., for the Big Ten-Pac-12 Challenge at Surprise Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. The Huskers were scheduled to play four games against the UC Riverside Highlanders last weekend in Tempe, Ariz., but rain washed out the final two games of the series.

Tempe, Ariz. - The Nebraska baseball team saw its three-game season-opening win streak come to an end on Friday afternoon at Tempe Diablo Stadium, as it dropped the first game of a doubleheader with the UC Riverside Highlanders, 4-3. The Highlanders jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third when they scored four unearned runs following a Husker error. The Huskers climbed back in the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but were never able to plate the tying run.

Due to forecasted rain in the Tempe, Ariz., area this weekend, Nebraska and UC Riverside will now play a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 17, starting at 2 p.m. (CT). The Huskers and Highlanders will now meet for one game on Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) and Sunday’s game is still set for 2 p.m. (CT)

Luensmann Named to Stopper of the Year Watch List

On Monday afternoon the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its preseason Stopper of the Year Watch List and Nebraska sophomore Chad Luensmann was one of 59 pitchers listed. In its 13th year, the award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball.

Fans Meet 2017 Huskers at Fan Fest
