The seventh-ranked Nebraska men’s gymnastics team returns home after a long stretch of away meets to host a pair of top-10 opponents. No. 5/6 Penn State and No. 9 Iowa come to the Bob Devaney Sports Center on March 4 for a Big Ten triangular meet, set to begin at 4 p.m.
Anton Stephenson of the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team earned his first Big Ten Gymnast-of-the-Week honor on Monday and his fourth overall weekly conference award after being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times last season.
CHICAGO --- In the first meet of the season after Winter Cup, where every individual score counted towards the team score, the No. 7 Nebraska men's gymnastics team put on an impressive showing against the No. 17/18 UIC Flames at the UIC Pavilion on Sunday afternoon. Led by a season-high vault score, which included the Huskers' first 15.0 score of the season from All-American Anton Stephenson and a sweep of the individual event titles, Nebraska defeated UIC 406.300-367.950.
The seventh-ranked Nebraska men’s gymnastics team concludes a long series of away meets this weekend when it travels to Chicago, Ill., to take on the No. 17/18 UIC Flames on Feb. 26. Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. The meet is a co-ed meet with the UIC women’s gymnastics team hosting Western Michigan at the same time.
Las Vegas, Nev. --- Chris Stephenson represented the Nebraska men's gymnastics team at the Winter Cup Finals on Saturday at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The Fishers, Ind., native finished 15th out of 42 competitors with a two-day all-around score of 157.400, including today's all-around score of 79.10.
Las Vegas, Nev. --- Chris Stephenson advanced to the Winter Cup Finals after his impressive performance at the preliminary session on Feb. 16. The finals will take place on Feb. 18 at 9 p.m. (CT)
Chris Stephenson and Evan Hymanson of the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team have been invited to represent the Huskers at the prestigious Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev., and will get a shot at making the USA National Team. The competition is a two-day event and will feature 96 athletes from around the country, including 2016 Olympic Team members Chris Brooks, Jake Dalton, Sam Mikulak and Alex Naddour. Preliminary sessions will take place on Feb. 16, while the finals will be on Feb. 18. Top finishers at the finals will be selected to compete for the USA National Team.
Berekely, Calif. --- Anton Stephenson claimed the individual event title on vault at the Pac-12 Invitational on Saturday with a season-best score of 14.75. As a team, the Nebraska men's gymnastics team placed second with a score of 408.800, which included a season-high vault score of 71.100. Stanford took first with 422.250, while Cal placed third (404.050) and Arizona State finished fourth (387.700).
The No. 6/7 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team continues a series of away meets when it heads west this weekend for a quad meet against Cal, Stanford and Arizona State University on Feb. 11 in Berkeley, Calif.
Minneapolis, Minn. --- For the third consecutive competition, junior Antonio Castro claimed an event title - this time on pommel horse with a score of 13.95 against Minnesota and the Minnesota Club Team on Saturday at Sports Pavilion. In addition, Connor Adamsick (floor) and Anton Stephenson (parallel bars) each claimed first place on their respective event. It was Adamsick's first-career event title.
The No. 4/7 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team begins a long stretch of away meets this weekend when the team travels to Minneapolis, Minn., for a conference matchup against the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Minnesota Club Team on Feb. 4. The competition will be held in Sports Pavilion and is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The meet will also be live streamed on BTN Plus.
