Huskers Continue Spring Break in San Luis Obispo

The Nebraska baseball team (9-9, 0-0 Big Ten) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-6 loss at CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday night, and will now head west to San Luis Obispo, Calif., where it will play four games in three days against the Cal Poly Mustangs.

Two-Out Runs Cost Huskers in 8-6 Loss

Playing in its first true road game of the season, the Nebraska baseball team (9-9, 0-0 Big Ten) held a 6-4 lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (11-5, 0-0 WAC) scored four runs, all with two outs, on their way to an 8-6 comeback victory. While the Huskers scored three of their runs with two outs on the night, Bakersfield plated all eight of its runs with two outs.

The Nebraska baseball team (9-8, 0-0 Big Ten) finished its first weekend sweep of the season on Sunday with a 6-2 victory over the College of Charleston Cougars (8-12, 0-0 CAA) at Hawks Field. The Huskers played well in all three facets of the game this weekend, as NU’s pitching staff allowed four total runs over the three-game series, the Husker defense committed one error and the offense totaled 22 runs 29 hits.

Huskers Clinch Series with 6-1 Win

The Nebraska baseball team (8-8, 0-0 Big Ten) will go for its first weekend sweep of the season tomorrow at 11:05 a.m. following a 6-1 win over the College of Charleston Cougars (8-11, 0-0 CAA) on Saturday afternoon at Hawks Field. After winning 10-1 on Friday, the Huskers clinched a series victory with Saturday’s win.

The Nebraska baseball team (6-8, 0-0 Big Ten) wraps up an eight-game homestand this weekend at Hawks Field with a three-game series against the College of Charleston Cougars (8-9, 0-0 CAA). The Cougars have never made a trip to Lincoln and this weekend’s series marks only the second time the two teams have met for a series after the Huskers opened last season in Charleston.

Following a complete-game shutout against Western Carolina on Sunday, Nebraska junior left-handed pitcher Jake Meyers was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Meyers Tosses Complete-Game Shutout, Huskers Win 10-0

Junior Jake Meyers recorded the first complete-game shutout of his career and the Husker offense exploded for 10 runs on 12 hits on Sunday afternoon at Hawks Field. With four runs on 15 hits through the first two games of the series, the Nebraska baseball team (6-8, 0-0 Big Ten) avoided a sweep by the Western Carolina Catamounts (7-8, 0-0 SoCon) with a 10-0 victory.

The Husker offense was unable to find a rhythm on Saturday afternoon, as it totaled only six hits in a 8-2 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts (7-7, 0-0 SoCon). Nebraska (5-8, 0-0 Big Ten) had won three straight games entering the weekend but will now need to try to avoid a sweep tomorrow after dropping the first two games of the series to the Catamounts.
