Silva Joins Collegiate National Team Staff

Lincoln Nebraska Associate Head Baseball Coach Ted Silva will be a member of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team coaching staff this summer, serving as the team's pitching coach. Oregon's George Horton will serve as the team's manager, while the staff also includes assistant coach Jason Gill (Loyola Marymount), bullpen coach Mitch Karraker (Oregon), assistant coach David Pierce (Tulane) and assistant coach Dave Snow.

Luensmann, Schreiber Honored on Wednesday

Lincoln A pair of Nebraska baseball players were awarded for their 2016 seasons on Wednesday, as Chad Luensmann was named a Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Scott Schreiber earned second-team Midwest All-Region accolades from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Knutson, Miller Drafted on Saturday

Lincoln After junior outfielder Ryan Boldt was taken 53rd overall by the Tampa Bay Rays in the second round of the MLB Draft on Thursday night, two more Husker juniors were taken on day three of the Draft on Saturday. Left-handed pitcher Max Knutson was picked by the Baltimore Orioles in the 12th round, while first baseman Ben Miller was taken in the 32nd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Boldt Taken in Second Round by Tampa Bay

Lincoln Nebraska junior outfielder Ryan Boldt was selected in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night, the No. 53 overall pick in the Draft. Boldt is the highest drafted Husker since 2006 when Joba Chamberlain was a first-round pick by the New York Yankees. The Huskers have now had at least one player picked in the draft for 38th straight years.

Luensmann Named Freshman All-American

Lincoln Already named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Nebraska's Chad Luensmann added another honor for the 2016 season on Wednesday morning when he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. The Altoona, Pa., native was also a second-team All-Big Ten selection and was an unanimous Big Ten All-Freshmen team pick.

Season Comes to an End at NCAA Tournament

Clemson, S.C. The 2016 Nebraska baseball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Doug Kingmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C., with a 4-1 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts (31-30). The Huskers ended the season with a 37-22 record and made their second NCAA Regional appearance in the last three seasons. Nebraska had scoring opportunities all afternoon, but was unable to get the hit it needed, while also hitting into five double plays.

Clemson, S.C. Making its 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the second in three seasons, the Nebraska baseball team (37-21) dropped its opening game of the tournament to the #18 Oklahoma State Cowboys (37-20) by a score of 6-0 on Friday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Boldt Repeats as Academic All-American

Lincoln Nebraska junior outfielder Ryan Boldt was named a third-team academic All-American on Friday, as the 2016 Academic All-American Division I Baseball Team was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). It's the second straight year Boldt has been named a third-team honoree and he is the first Husker baseball player to earn consecutive honors since Jeff Leise was a first-team pick in both 2002 and 2003. Leise was honored three years in a row, as he was a third-team selection in 2001.

Huskers Open NCAA Tournament with Cowboys

Lincoln - The No. 3 seed Nebraska baseball team (37-20, 16-8 Big Ten) will see a former Big 12 Conference foe in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C., as the Huskers will face the No. 2 seed Oklahoma State Cowboys (36-20, 16-8 Big 12). The Huskers and Cowboys open the Clemson Regional at 11 a.m. (CT) and the game will be carried live on ESPNU. Top-seeded Clemson will face No. 4 seed Western Carolina at 6 p.m.

Lincoln For the second time in three years the Nebraska baseball team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers, who are 37-20 on the year, earned an at-large invitation during the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Selection Show Monday morning on ESPNU and will play in the Clemson Regional.
