Nebraska - "We Are United"
Connecting on Campus 01/31/2017

At the University of Nebraska, we offer our student-athletes unmatched academic, athletics and life skills experiences. We are proud to be a leader all these areas and that includes our goal to unconditionally respect, embrace, include and celebrate the varied backgrounds and cultures of our 600-plus student-athletes, which represent 27 countries. This week, our student-athletes and staff had the opportunity to participate in the second-annual Nebraska Athletics Inclusion Summit. Three incredible individuals spoke at the summit, including Dr. Richard Lapchick, recognized expert on sport and social issues; Nevin Caple, NCAA diversity consultant who engages and educates on LGBTQ; and Husker International Track and Field student-athlete Reka Czuth (Pecs, Hungary). Each shared personal stories about diversity, inclusion and the support systems they needed to be successful. This year, the Inclusion Summit, titled “We are United,” gave our student-athletes and staff the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions with their peers. I am also proud that Nebraska is working diligently to be a model program for diversity and inclusion.
