Several former Huskers saw success in the second week of the 2017 NFL season. 

Rex Burkhead started at running back for the New England Patriots, recording two carries for three yards and three receptions for 41 yards. Early in the first quarter, Burkhead caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to give the Patriots a 6-0 lead over the New Orleans Saints, helping the team to 36-20 victory. 

On the offensive line, Spencer long started at center for the Washington Redskins and helped the team rush for 229 yards in its 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Richie Incognito started at left guard for the Buffalo Bills, and played every offensive snap against the Carolina Panthers, while Matt Slauson both started and played every offensive snap for the Los Angeles Chargers.

On the other side of the ball, Dallas defensive tackle Maliek Collins recovered a fumble in the second quarter in the Cowboys' game against the Denver Broncos. The former Blackshirt returned the recovered fumble for six yards to the Denver three-yard line, setting up great field position for the Dallas offense. Two plays later, Dak Prescott found Dez Bryant in the end zone, giving the Cowboys their first score of the game. 

Ndamukong Suh started on the defensive line for the Miami Dolphins, earning four tackles, including two for loss.

Lavonte David started at linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recording nine tackles, including one for a loss. David also recovered a fumble in the 29-7 win over the Chicago Bears.

On Monday night, Ameer Abdullah started at running back for Detroit, helping the Lions to a 24-10 win over the New York Giants with 17 carries for 86 yards.
