Lincoln, Neb. - The NCAA has announced the 12 teams that have qualified for the 2013 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships. Ranked No. 10 nationally, the Nebraska men's gymnastics team enters the national championships an average score of 423.350 and will compete in the first session of the qualifier, beginning at 1 p.m. CST on Friday, April 19.
The Huskers will join No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 Illinois and No. 11 Air Force in the first session. Nebraska faced four of the five other teams in regular-season competition. NU only faced Michigan at the Big Ten Championships last weekend in Minneapolis.
The second qualifier will begin at 7 p.m. CST on Thursday night and will consist of No. 1 Penn State, No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 Iowa, No. 9 California and No. 12 Temple.
The NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships will held over the course of three days, from April 19-21 at the Recreation Center on the Penn State University campus. A total of 12 teams will compete in the team qualifier on April 19, which will be split into two sessions. The top three finishers in each session will advance to the team finals, to be held on April 20 alongside the all-around finals. The championships will conclude on April 21 with individual event finals.
Nebraska joins six other Big Ten men's gymnastics teams in qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa will all join Nebraska at the team qualifier next week. The Huskers will travel to Pennsylvania after finishing with a team score of 416.250 at the Big Ten Championships last week in Minneapolis.
