Filipcic Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska diver Anna Filipcic garnered her second-straight conference honors on Tuesday afternoon when she was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Last week's Big Ten Diver of the Week, Filipcic stood out again for the Huskers on Friday against Northern Iowa. The freshman scored a 303.40 in the three-meter dive and a 278.70 in the one-meter dive on her way to victories in both events. In addition, both dives met NCAA Zone Diving standards for Filipcic, who has earned 13 top-five finishes, including eight victories, on the season.

Tuesday’s honor is the second of Filipcic's career and the first Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week honor earned by a Husker since joining the conference.

Filipcic and the Huskers have nearly three weeks before they take their annual holiday training trip. After that, Nebraska will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 25, when they host conference rival Illinois at 11 a.m. on senior day.
