2008-09 Season Outlook

Senior Jenny Toler is primed to become Nebraska’s top threat in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events in 2008-09. Toler finished last season with the team’s second-fastest time in both events, and with the departure of Lynn Siemert, will be the Huskers’ top-returner in the 100-yard race. As one of five seniors on the team, Toler hopes to help the team reach new heights in her final season.

2007-08 (Junior)

Toler started off her junior season with a bang, winning both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle in Nebraska’s first meet against Illinois. Toler excelled in those two events throughout the year, notching seven top-five finishes in the 100 free and six in the 200 free. She has 14 top-five finishes overall with the other coming in the 100-yard breaststroke against South Dakota State. Toler capped off the season by finishing 20th in the 100 free and 16th in the 200 free at the Big 12 Championships. She also earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the third straight season.

2006-07 (Sophomore)

Toler continued to specialize in the 200-yard freestyle during her sophomore year and began the season with a runner-up finish in the event at Missouri State. After swimming the race in nine regular-season meets, including a season-best time of 1:52.48 (16th) at the Minnesota Invite, Toler finished 19th at the Big 12 Championships. She was also a primary entrant in the 100- and 500-yard freestyle, while becoming one of six Huskers to compete in at least seven different events.

2005-06 (Freshman)

Toler ended the season with an impressive 13th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at the Big 12 Championships. Her season-best time in the event came in the preliminaries when she was clocked in 1:52.09, while her season-best 100 free time came in the finals at the conference meet when she placed 18th. Toler also began her career on a good note, winning the 100 free against Northern Iowa in just the third meet of the season. She also went on to win the 200 free against Nebraska-Omaha and Iowa State, giving her a total of three wins as a freshman. Although she specialized in the 100 and 200 free, Toler swam in seven different events during the season.
