Lincoln - One of Nebraska's most devoted groups of women's basketball fans will get a welcome surprise when ticket invoices for the first season at new Pinnacle Bank Arena arrive in early fall.
The nearly 300 A-Level reserved season ticket holders at the Bob Devaney Sports Center will get a $30 discount off the price of their 2012-13 season tickets. In the final year at the Devaney Center, A-Level seats cost $190 for 19 Husker home games.
For the first season at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, the top price for a reserved ticket will be just $160 for 20 games. That's a sweet deal to watch a 2012-13 Nebraska women's basketball team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
"We thought it was a great way to say thanks to our most loyal fans," Nebraska Executive Associate Athlete Director Marc Boehm said. "Most of those A-Level fans have been with us for years, and we wanted to take the opportunity to say welcome home at the new arena."
Nebraska Coach Connie Yori agreed.
"I say this a lot, but I think we have some of the best fans in women's college basketball," Yori said. "When opposing Big Ten coaches came to the Devaney Center for the first time, they almost always commented to me before the game and to the media after the game, about how great the atmosphere was inside the Devaney Center. That's not about the building, it's about the fans. And those fans that sat right down on the floor at the Devaney Center, gave us a tremendous homecourt advantage. This is our way of saying thanks and bring some friends to the new arena."
Deb Brooks, a long-time board member of the Fastbreakers Women's Basketball Booster Club, said the reduced price of the ticket was a welcome surprise.
"It's a great feeling to know that as fans, we are appreciated," Brooks said. "We feel like the most important thing we can do is provide positive support to the players and coaches. The effort that they give on the court is contagious to us in the crowd. It makes for a fun atmosphere every night. We just love going to games."
In the Devaney Center seating configuration, three groups of reserved seats (A, B, C) existed. Last season, B and C level seats were $152 for 19 games, and the $8 per ticket price will remain the same at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In the new configuration at Pinnacle Bank Arena, all the former Devaney Center season ticket holders were seated in comparable seats in the 100 Level/Lower Bowl. With just over 5,200 reserved seats and nearly 3,200 general admission seats making up the 100 Level/Lower Bowl inside the new arena, women's basketball fans who purchase reserved tickets will have outstanding views for all the action.
Fans can join the growing group of loyal followers of Nebraska women's basketball by reserving their season tickets now at Huskers.com/arena. A $25 per seat deposit will reserve great seats for Season One at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
