Nebraska Downs Ole Miss for Third Win
Dutton won air rifle and took second in smallbore on the day.

Oxford, Miss. - The No. 6 Nebraska rifle team picked up its third win of the season on Saturday, downing No. 9 Ole Miss 4,641-4,621 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center. The Huskers (3-1, 2-1 GARC) edged the Rebels (3-4, 0-1 GARC) in smallbore before using a dominant air rifle performance to seal their victory. NU was paced by senior Janine Dutton, who took home the air rifle title and a second-place finish in smallbore.

NU started the day with a mark of 2,300 in smallbore, on par with the team's average of 2,303. The Huskers were led by Dutton's score of 579, which was good for second overall on the day. Freshman Denise Martin tacked on a 575, and Joyce Kim and Sunny Russell picked up identical marks of 574.

The Rebels posted a score of 2,296 on the smallbore range, paced by Kim Coffey's title-winning mark of 580. Following smallbore competition, NU led Ole Miss 2,300-2,296.

The Big Red used a dominant performance on the air rifle range to secure their win, posting a score of 2,341. Dutton again led the Huskers, picking up an event-title winning 592 on the afternoon. Dutton's mark of 592 was eight points above the next highest marks scored on the afternoon. Sophomore Kelsey Hansen and Martin added scores of 584 apiece, and Russell posted a 581.

NU dominated Ole Miss on the air rifle range, topping the Rebels by 16 points. Ole Miss picked up a score of 2,325 in air rifle, led by Alivia Yeager's 584.

The Huskers will take two weeks off from competition following today's matchup. NU won't take to the range again until Nov. 10-11, when the Big Red will travel to Columbus, Ohio for a pair of matches at French Field House. Nebraska will face the 2012 NCAA Champion TCU Horned Frogs on Nov. 10 before taking on Ohio State on Nov. 11. Both matches will start at 7 a.m. CST (8 a.m. EST).
