Collura Participates In 2013 US Open

Irvine, Calif. - Taryn Collura, a junior native of Phoenix, Ariz., participated at the 2013 US Open in Irvine, Calif. on Saturday night. Collura swam a 26.06 in the 50-meter freestyle resulting in a three-way tie for 21st in the event. 

Collura was the only Husker to make it to the NCAA Tournament in the 2013-13 season. Collura swam the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races. Collura placed 33rd in the 50-meter freestyle event at the NCAA tournament, and she set a school record of 22.42 in the same event at the Big Ten Championships.

Collura was a part of Husker relay history at the 2013 Big Ten Championships, helping three relays to school-record times. Along with Hayley Martin, Shannon Guy and Ariel Weech, Collura helped set record times of 1:30.11 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 3:18.10 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, and 1:39.13 in the 200-yard medley relay at the conference meet.
