Paso, Texas - Kolton Lapa and Matt Record tied for
eighth at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational on Saturday, leading the
Nebraska men's golf team to a fourth-place finish.
The second round resumed at Butterfield Trail Golf Course
on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (CT) after play was suspended due to darkness on
Friday evening. The Huskers posted 286 in the second round before shooting 288
in the final round on Saturday. In Friday's opening round, NU shot 297 for a
three-round total of 7-over-par 871. Nebraska finished 20 shots behind team
champion Idaho.
Freshman Kolton Lapa, who won Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week
honors on Wednesday, carded a 1-over-par 73 in the second round before a
final-round 70. On Friday, Lapa shot an even-par 72 in the first round. He
finished the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational at 1-under-par 215 to tie for
eighth with teammate Matt Record.
Record opened the tournament with a 1-over-par 73 before
a pair of 71s in the second and final rounds. In the second round, Record used
three birdies and two bogeys en route to a 71. In the final round, he made one
eagle, three birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey for his 1-under-par
total.
Neil Dufford earned a top-20 finish at 219 strokes over
three rounds. The senior shot a 1-under-par 71 in the second round before a
1-over-par 73 in the final round. In the second round, Dufford made two birdies
and one bogey on the front nine and parred all nine holes on the back en route
to his 71. In the final round, he made two birdies and three bogeys.
Manuel Lavin tied for 47th at the Price's Give
'Em Five Invitational. He, like Record and Dufford, fired a 1-under-par 71 in
the second round. In the final round, Lavin used two birdies, two bogeys and
one double bogey for a 2-over-par 74. The junior shot 81 in the first round for
a three-round total of 226.
Sophomore Ross Dickson shot 228 and tied for 54th.
He paced his way to a 1-over-par 73 in the second round before a 6-over-par 78
in the final round. Dickson added a first-round 77 on Friday.
