The Nebraska bowling team wrapped up its 2012-13 regular
season Sunday as the Huskers finished fourth out of 29 teams at the Music City
Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Maryland Eastern Shore University defeated Arkansas
State 4-1 to win the tournament championship.
Head Coach Bill Straub was impressed with the team’s effort
throughout the weekend, noting that even though a few of the Huskers suffered
some minor injuries in practice, they still gave great effort in competition.
“I have no complaints about the finish at all, some of them
played through pain just to try and get us through, and I am real pleased with
the effort.” Straub said. “We are going to give them a week off during spring
break so they can get a chance to chill a bit.”
Leading the Huskers was sophomore Liz Kuhlkin. Kuhlkin added
to her already stellar sophomore campaign by making the all-tournament team
with an average score of 221.8. In the individual competition Kuhlkin recorded
a high score of 262.
The Huskers will now have a break in competition until the
NCAA Championship Tournament on April 11-13 in Canton, Mich. NU will find out
seeding information on March 27, at 3 p.m. (CT) as the NCAA will have a live
selection show streamed on NCAA.com
