Neisen Leads Huskers in Arizona
Peoria, Ariz. - Steffi Neisen produced back-to-back rounds of 78 to lead the Nebraska women's golf team at the Westbrook Invitational on Sunday.
On the opening day of the 54-hole event, the junior from New Prague, Minn., closed the first 36 holes at 156 to sit in a tie for 45th in the 75-player field. Fellow junior Katelyn Wright was just two strokes back of Neisen in a tie for 56th at 158 (78-80).
Redshirt freshman Cassidy Stelzmiller added a pair of solid rounds with an opening-round 79 and a second-round 78 while playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup. She enters the final round in a tie for 52nd.
As a team, Nebraska sits in 13th place with a two-round total of 635 (315-320). The Huskers are 16 strokes behind Big Ten counterpart Illinois in the 13-team field. Arkansas leads the strong field with a two-round total of 583 (296-287). The No. 7 Razorbacks own a narrow two-shot lead over No. 9 Washington (291-294-585) and No. 15 Texas Tech (300-285-585) heading into Monday's final round on the 6,269-yard, par-72 layout in Arizona.
Arkansas' Gabriela Lopez (72-70), Washington's SooBin Kim (72-70) and Texas Tech's Elin Arvidsson (75-67) enter the final 18 holes on the Vistas Course at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in a three-way tie for the lead at 142.
