Lapa Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

The Big Ten Conference named Kolton Lapa its Golfer of the Week on Wednesday following his tie-for-fifth finish at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

Lapa posted 1-under-par 215 over three rounds on the weekend at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The freshman's performance led the Huskers to an eighth-place finish at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Lapa carded 73s in each of the first two rounds before firing a final-round 3-under-par 69 on Sunday.

With the tie for fifth, Lapa earned his third consecutive top-10 finish in stroke play events. The Mesa, Ariz., native finished the fall with a tie for seventh at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate before tying for eighth at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational.

The weekly honor is Lapa's second of the season as he earned the accolade on Oct. 24, 2012.
