The Nebraska swimming and diving team defeated South Dakota (240-59) and Iowa
State (176.5-122.5) in their dual meet that took place Friday afternoon at Iowa
State's Beyer Pool.
Nebraska won eight of the fourteen
individual events and both relays on Friday to take the dual meet victory and
improve their record to 8-0 on the season. Junior Bailey Pons led the way for
the Huskers, winning the 200-yard (1:53.56), 500-yard (5:00.71), and 1,000-yard
freestyles (10:17.18).
Senior Hayley Martin also
stood out with wins in the 100-yard backstroke (57.02) and 100-yard freestyle (51.20).
Additionally, Martin was a part of the winning 200-yard medley and 400-yard
freestyle relay teams.
Shannon Guy (100-yard
butterfly), Payton Michaud (one-meter dive), and Kailey Harmon (three-meter
dive) also added victories for the Huskers.
Junior Imelda Wistey led the
way for Iowa State, winning the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes, as the Cyclones
defeated the Coyotes 246-53.
The Huskers will spend the
next two weeks preparing for their dual against South Dakota on Nov. 9 in Brookings,
S.D. Nebraska will turn around and face Northern Iowa the next day, Nov. 10, at
the Devaney Natatorium. The following week will see the divers head to Houston,
Texas, for the Cougar Classic Invite on Nov. 15. The swimmers will travel to Topeka,
Kan., on Nov. 16.
