Football

(began in conference 1907)

 

  • 12 Conference Titles - first in 1907, three straight from 1921 to 1923 Three undefeated seasons
  •  Won 34 straight games from 1912 to 1916
  •  Four Huskers earned five First-Team All-America honors, including the Huskers' first All-American, Vic Halligan in 1914. Ed Weir was a two-time All-American in 1924 and 1925
  •  73 All-Conference Selections
  •  Defeated Notre Dame's legendary  "Four Horsemen" for two straight seasons in 1922 and 1923. From 1922-24 the Four Horsemen owned a 27-2-1 record with the only two losses coming to Nebraska.
  •  Memorial Stadium opens during the 1923 season

 

Men's Basketball

(began in conference 1907)

 

  • 10 All-Conference Picks
  •  Guard Sam Carrier is the Huskers first All-American in 1913
  •  Huskers win the first of three straight MVC titles starting in 1911-12 season

 

Baseball

(began in conference 1907)

 

  • Did not field a team from 1913-18 due to WWI, but achieved six winning seasons over the next seven years from 1919-25

 

Wrestling

(began 1915)

 

  • John Kellog became the school's first individual conference champion winning the 125-pound title in 1924
  •  Won the 1924 team championship

 

Track & Field

(began 1922) 

 

  • Won seven men's conference titles, including four straight outdoor titles from 1921 1924
  •  Roland Locke wins the programs first national title with a sweep of the 100-yard and 200-yard dashes at the 1926 national meet in Chicago.
