Huskers Announce Extensive Volleyball TV Schedule
The Huskers will be featured on television and the web a minimum of 14 times this season.

Lincoln - The Nebraska Athletic Department announced on Thursday that a total of 14 Husker volleyball matches will be televised or webcast this fall, including all but two home matches.  The Big Ten Network, which has been assigned all of Nebraska's television rights for all sports from the Big Ten Conference, will televise five conference matches during the 2011 season, all in high definition. In addition, NET Television will televise four matches statewide in Nebraska, also in high definition. Adding in two ESPN2 telecasts and at least three matches webcast on, Husker fans will be able to see Nebraska on television and the web a minimum of 14 times this season.  Other road conference matches carried by are likely to be added as each conference school sets their Student U/ schedules.

In their first Big Ten Conference home match, the Huskers will take on Penn State in the NU Coliseum on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The Huskers and Nittany Lions, who have combined to capture seven of the past 16 NCAA titles, will appear live on BTN. As the two premier volleyball schools in the conference, this match will be showcased as the kickoff for all conference matches in the Big Ten. Nebraska and Penn State will go head-to-head live again on BTN just over a month later on Oct. 29.

BTN will also broadcast Nebraska at Minnesota on Oct. 15 (tape delay), vs. Illinois on Oct. 22 (tape delay) and vs. Minnesota on Nov. 16.  ESPN2 will telecast NU at Michigan on Oct. 1 and Indiana at Nebraska on Oct. 8 on tape delay.  Three other matches will be webcast on including three home conference matches at the Coliseum (Purdue on Oct. 7, Michigan on Nov. 4 and Michigan State on Nov. 5).

"NET Sports is excited to work with the Big Ten Conference to air select Husker volleyball matches this season." said NET Sports Executive Producer Joe Turco. "Husker fans will be able to cheer on and show their support for the Big Red as they enter their initial season in the Big Ten."

NET Television will have Nebraska's home opener when the Huskers battle Creighton. The Bluejays, who qualified for the 2010 NCAA Tournament, will visit the NU Coliseum on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. for the opening match of the 2011 Ameritas Players Challenge. The match will mark the Huskers' 150th consecutive sellout at the NU Coliseum, which is an ongoing NCAA record across all women's sports.

Fans will then have the opportunity to witness the Huskers play former Big 12 Conference foe Iowa State on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. The match with the Cyclones will be the Huskers' annual home match at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and will mark the first non-conference meeting between the two programs. The two teams met 79 times as members of the Big Eight and Big 12 conferences, with the Huskers holding an all-time advantage of 78-1 in the series that dates back to 1975.  While all of Nebraska's home volleyball matches at the Coliseum are sold out, approximately 4,000 tickets remain for the Iowa State Match at the Devaney Center and can be purchased online at or through the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office (402-472-3111 or 1-800-8 BIG RED).

After making their first appearance on the Big Ten Network against Penn State on, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., the Huskers will play their second Big Ten match against Ohio State on NET Television on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. Nebraska holds a 7-3 all-time record against the Buckeyes, including sweeps in the last five matches dating back to 1992.

NET Television's final match of the regular season will come on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., when the Iowa Hawkeyes visit the NU Coliseum for their first conference match with the Huskers. It will mark the first meeting between the two programs in 12 years, as the Huskers and Hawkeyes last met on Sept. 4, 1999. The Huskers hold a perfect 12-0 record in the series, which dates back to 1976.

All of the Huskers' matches on NET will be carried on NET1 and will be shown in high definition on NET-HD and will also be streamed live on  The Iowa State and Ohio State matches will be shown on the BTN on a tape delayed basis. The NET Sports broadcast team of Larry Punteney and Kathi Weiskamp will once again bring fans all of the action.
