He defeated Roman Trkulja in a hard fought battle after splitting sets. The final score was 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Like Blackwell, Sebastian Florczyk lost the first set, but he was able to come back in the second set. After splitting sets Florczyk defeated C.J. Griffin 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. The outcome at No. 2 singles would determine the winner. This put a lot of pressure on Dusty Boyer. He won the first set against Bryan Welnets 6-4, but fell in the second 4-6. Dusty clinched the match for the Huskers, winning 7-5 in the third set.
"It was good to get out first conference win today", said Coach Kerry McDermott. " Solid performance in doubles today, and that was the difference in the match today. Singles we didnt play a complete match as a team and it showed. The three guys that came through in singles today: Dusty, Tom, and Sebastian showed their teammates that the will to win is a talent iteslef. The match came down to Dusty Boyer, and for a Freshman he is a GAMER (COOL HAND LUKE), and he knows how to win! We have to get ready for Iowa Wednesday, and be ready to battle again."
