Huskers Place Five on Scholastic All-America List

The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced team and individual Scholastic All-America award winners for the 2011-12 season on Tuesday. The Nebraska women's gymnastics team earned team honors for the season, while five Husker athletes picked up individual awards.

Kailyn Hawkins, Amanda Lauer, Jennifer Lauer, Kassandra Nathe and Emily Wong all earned individual accolades for their efforts in the classroom last year. Nathe's award gave the senior a team-leading three career Scholastic All-America awards. Wong earned her second consecutive Scholastic All-America accolade, while Lauer, Hawkins and Lauer each earned their first career honor.

Student-athletes were eligible for recognition on the list by attaining a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Across all three division of competition, 471 studen-athletes hit the 3.5 benchmark and 60 of those earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.
