Huskers Travel to CMU Women's Invitational

By NU Athletic Communications

The Nebraska women’s bowling team will continue its 2012-13 season this weekend at the Central Missouri Women’s Collegiate Invitational held in the AMF Pro Bowl Lanes in North Kansas City, MO.  The Huskers will be one of 12 teams competing in the talent-rich field, as competition begins Friday and will end Sunday afternoon.

As the season ramps up toward the postseason, Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub and the team knows that it is time to turn up their competition level. This weekend’s tournament is the second to last tournament of the season.

“Hopefully with this weekend’s competition, we will participate well enough that the committee will select us for the NCAA Championship.” Straub said.

Straub is referring to the NCAA Championship selection process, where a selected committee picks eight teams much like in NCAA basketball, based on RPI points and strength of schedule among other criteria. The NCAA selection show will be on March 27 at 4 p.m.

“We decided to travel the entire team this weekend to give them a chance to gain some experience.” Straub said.
