BTN, who has been assigned television rights from the Big Ten Conference of all 12 Big Ten schools, could also show the Huskers once more during the regular season, as the network holds a wildcard slot on Sunday, May 19. The Huskers wrap up the regular season that day against Michigan in Ann Arbor. Along with the wildcard game, fans could see the Huskers even more on BTN if the team makes the Big Ten Conference Tournament. The six-team tournament is held in Columbus, Ohio, on May 23-27 and every game of the tournament is shown live on BTN.
Following the announcement by the Big Ten Network, NET was able to announce that fans in the state of Nebraska will continue to see Nebraska baseball on NET in 2012. NET has permission from the Big Ten Network to broadcast four games at Hawks Field and will also broadcast both meetings with Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park. NET's coverage will kickoff on Friday, April 6, when the Iowa Hawkeyes come to Lincoln to open the first Big Ten series between the two programs. NET will also broadcast the series opener against Minnesota (May 11), as well as non-conference games against CSU Bakersfield (April 28) and Wichita State (May 15).
Across both BTN and NET, all four Friday night Big Ten series opening games at Hawks Field will be seen on TV. Even more games will be available on the internet though HuskersNside and BTN.com All-Access, as BTN.com is set to stream at least 51 additional game across the conference in 2012. Once the BTN.com Student-U schedule is finalized is announced at a later time, we will also announce what games will be shown on HuskersNside.
The Huskers' 10 appearances on TV in 2012 are two more then they had in 2011. A year ago, the Huskers were seen on TV eight times, including three appearances on NET, two on CBS College Sports, two on Fox College Sports and once on ESPNU.
The Huskers open the 2012 season on Friday night when they open a three-game series with Gonzaga in Peoria, Ariz., at the Peoria Sports Complex. The Huskers will be the home team in all three games and fans can listen to Greg Sharpe and Lane Grindle call all of the action on the Husker Sports Network - including KLIN 1400 AM in Lincoln - and on the Internet at Huskers.com or the Official Husker App.
