The Big Ten Conference and ESPN/ABC announced Tuesday that Nebraska’s 2014 games against Miami and Michigan State will be televised in prime time on the ESPN family of networks.

Nebraska will play host to Miami on Sept. 20, at Memorial Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT. Two weeks later on Oct. 4 the Huskers will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on the defending Big Ten champions, also a 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. local in East Lansing). Both games will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 with a determination on the network to be made at a later date.

The two Nebraska games were among a group of six Big Ten contests announced for prime-time telecasts on ESPN/ABC on Tuesday.

The Huskers’ matchup with Miami will be the first regular-season meeting between the schools since the Hurricanes visited Lincoln in 1976. The teams met five times in bowl games between the 1983 and 2001 seasons, with the winner of those contests capturing the national championship four times.

The overall series between the schools is tied at 5-5, with Nebraska winning all three games in Lincoln. The schools will meet in Miami in 2015.

The prime-time matchup at Michigan State on Oct. 4 will pit the two schools that represented the Legends Division in the first three Big Ten Championship Games. Nebraska and Michigan State are now in opposite divisions in the Big Ten but will meet each of the next two seasons in cross-division contests. The prime-time telecast will mark the fourth straight year the two schools have met on ESPN or ABC.

BTN is expected to announce their prime-time football schedule in the near future.
