Nebraska men’s golfers Calvin Freeman and Matt Record each finished in the top 30 at the Patriot All-America Invitational at The Wigwam’s Gold Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Freeman fired a 2-over-par 212 total over three rounds to tie for 13th among the 83-player field. The junior from Table Rock, Neb., showed successive improvement during the tournament, opening with 72 before shooting 71 in the second round and 69 in the final round.
In the final round, Freeman made four front-nine birdies before adding two on the back nine for a 2-under-par 33. He made 11 birdies in all over the 54-hole stretch.
Record scorched the Gold Course in the final round with 2-under-par 68 en route to a tie for 28th. He added 77 and 75 over the first 36 holes for a three-round total of 220.
Record made eight birdies during the tournament, four of which came on the back nine of the final round. The senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., posted 3-under-par 32 during that stretch.
Participants for the invitational included men’s golfers who earned All-America honors from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA as well as AJGA All-Americans who are attending NCAA institutions as freshmen.
