Huskers Achieve Highest Ranking in Program History
The Nebraska women's tennis team picked up a ranking of No. 23 in the latest ITA Division I Women's Tennis Rankings, marking the highest team ranking achieved in program history. The ranking breaks the previous record set last season, when the 2011 Huskers were ranked No. 26 nationally.

The Huskers began the season ranked No. 39 in the nation and climbed steadily in the rankings since January. Nebraska has posted a 14-1 record thus far in 2012, including a 4-1 record against ranked opponents.

Veresova Receives Big Ten Weekly Honor
Nebraska junior Patricia Veresova was named the Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for March 13, the conference announced last Tuesday. The award was the first for Veresova and the third for a Nebraska athlete in 2011-12. She joins fellow juniors Stefanie Weinstein and Janine Weinreich as Huskers who have received the honor this season.

Veresova went 2-0 in singles and doubles play in NU's victories over No. 58 Iowa and No. 30 Tulsa. She posted wins over Iowa's 110th-ranked Sonja Molnar and Tulsa's 82nd-ranked Anastasia Erofeeva in No. 1 singles to rise to 12-2 in singles play this spring.

On the doubles courts, Veresova partnered with teammate Mary Weatherholt to pick up victories in No. 2 doubles over Iowa's Morven McCulloch and Christina Harazin and Tulsa's Bonny Davidson and Samantha Vickers. Veresova holds a perfect 12-0 record this spring in doubles action.

Jacobson Closes in on 300 Career Wins
Nebraska women's tennis head coach Scott Jacobson entered the 2011-12 season with 285 career victories. Midway through the season, Jacobson is closing in on his 300th career victory. Entering this Tuesday's match against Long Beach State, Jacobson has 299 career wins.

Head Coach Scott Jacobson, a two-time Big 12 Coach of the Year selection (2005, 2009), has guided the Huskers to four NCAA tournament appearances in the past seven  years, including two consecutive appearances in 2010 and 2011.

The Huskers rose nine spots to No. 23 nationally in the ITA Division I Women's Tennis Rankings, released March 13. Nebraska remains third among Big Ten teams, trailing only No. 13 Northwestern and No. 18 Michigan.
