"Eat healthy, get active, make a difference" was chanted throughout the day by youth from over 26 schools in Nebraska that qualified to attend the 2012 Fuel Up to Play 60 Youth Summit held at Memorial Stadium. Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program that was designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their health by implementing positive changes for them and their schools.

Highlights of the event included a tour of the stadium, two breakout sessions, and a special appearance from Athletic Director Tom Osborne and Alex Henry, former Nebraska football player and current kicker for the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team. During the breakout sessions the kids participated in HopSports, an interactive physical education training system, and listened to a panel of student-athletes address how they maintain a healthy lifestyle and the benefits that accompany such behaviors.

The Nebraska student-athletes that participated on the nutrition panel and with the HopSports activity included Ben Cotton (FB), Jim Ebke (FB), Tyler Hitcher (T&F), Ron Kellogg (FB), Steve Osborne (FB), Brent Qvale (FB), Kyler Reed (FB), Brigette Root (VB), and Sunny Russell (Rifle).
