Former Husker Megan Wheatley Earns Australian National Championship

Lincoln, Neb.- Former Husker All-American Megan Wheatley was named the Australian Heptathlon Champion at the Australian Athletics Championships held over the weekend at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Wheatley finished first in the heptathlon standings with a total of 5,832 points. She posted a time of 13.80 in the 100 meter hurdles and a leap of 5-5 1/4 (1.66) in the high jump. Wheatley finished with a shot put of 43-6 1/2 (13.27) and recorded a time of 25.00 in the 200 meters. She opened the second day of competition with a long jump of 19-9 (6.02), followed by a javelin throw of 128-4 (39.12). Wheatley closed the competition with a time of 2:15.87 in the 800 meters.
