Miller Breaks Meet Record, Claims 1,500 Meters Title

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska track and field team closed competition at the Drake Relays on Saturday as Tipton, Iowa, native Ashley Miller won the women's 1,500 meters with a Drake Relays record-breaking time.

Miller won the event with a time of 4:15.61. With the mark, she broke the Drake Relays 1,500 meters record, previous set last year by Stephanie Morgan of Illinois at 4:15.90. Miller currently ranks fifth in the nation in the event. Jessica Furlan finished the event with a time of 4:41.10.

Patrick Raedler finished fourth for the Huskers in the men's triple jump, posting a personal-best leap of 50-7 1/2 (15.43). On the women's side, Anna Weigandt finished second with a personal-best leap of 42-9 1/2 (13.04), bettering her previous best of 41-4 1/2 (12.61). Mara Griva took fourth with a season-best jump of 42-5 1/2 (12.94).  

Victoria Zimmerman finished sixth in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 191-6 (58.37), while Jade Siegel finished 13th with a throw of 178-2 (54.31).

On the track, Tim Thompson posted a sixth-place finish in the men's 100 meters, notching a time of 10.55. Miles Ukaoma finished second in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 50.71. The winner, Carson Banks of Mississippi, finished with a time of 50.70. Jodi-Rae Blackwood came in 15th, posting a time of 53.08.

The men's distance medley relay team of Jarren Heng, London Hawk, Tommy Brinn and Trevor Vidlak posted a ninth-place finish behind a time of 9:55.40.
