Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska sophomore Mara Weekes was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday after being selected as the Big Ten Track Co-Athlete-of-the-Week. The accolade marks her first Big Ten outdoor track and field weekly award.
Weekes took home the honor after recording three first-place finishes at the Nebraska Invitational, claiming top honors in the 100-meter dash (11.57), 200- meters dash (23.66) and 4x100-meter relay (46.41). Her 100- and 200-meter dash efforts rank third in the Big Ten, while her relay time in seventh in the conference.
Nebraska returns to action this weekend as the Huskers will compete at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Madison, Wis.
