Former Husker golfer Brandon Crick fell short of playing over the weekend at the 113th U.S. Open Championship after the second round on Friday.

Crick shot 81 in the first round and 78 in the second round for a 159 total after 36 holes at Merion Golf Club’s East Course. The second round wasn’t completed on Friday due to darkness but the projected cut is 8-over-par. Crick is 19-over-par and tied for 151st.

In Thursday’s first round, Crick opened with a par on the 11th. He made bogeys on 12, 17 and 18 to play his first eight holes in 3-over-par. Following pars on Holes 1 and 2, Crick bogeyed 3, 4, 6 and 7, with double bogeys on Nos. 5 and 8. The McCook, Neb., native closed with pars on 9 and 10 for his 11-over-par first round total.

In Friday’s second round, Crick double bogeyed Hole No. 1 but responded with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2 and 3. He added a par on the par-5 fourth hole but suffered back-to-back bogeys on 5 and 6. Crick closed the front nine with pars on 7 and 8 before bogeying the par-3 ninth hole.

Crick started the back nine with a bogey but parred the 11th. He double bogeyed Hole No. 12 and made bogeys on 14 and 15 but parred 13, 16, 17 and 18 to close out the round.

Crick, who lettered for Nebraska in 2009 and 2010, advanced to the U.S. Open following sectional qualifying and local qualifying. Crick was one of two qualifiers who posted 3-under-par 69 at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Omaha, Neb., in the local qualifier on May 14. He was one of nine competitors to advance from the sectional site at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn., on June 3. Crick fired 70 and 68 at the 36-hole event.

The U.S. Open continues on Saturday and Sunday at Merion Golf Club. Scoring is available here:
