All Eyes on Burroughs in NYC
New York City - Former Husker national champion wrestler Jordan Burroughs spent last week in New York City wrestling in Times Square, while also making multiple media appearances.
Burroughs competed Thursday in the ASICS Beat the Streets Gala bout in Times Square, facing off against Russian wrestling star Kamal Malikov in a match pairing two of the sport's best 74 kg/163-pound wrestlers.
The former Husker started off the match on fire with a quick take down, scoring a 3-0 lead. Burroughs would not look back, beating Malikov 8-0, 5-0, helping USA defeat Russia 4-3 in front of a rowdy crowd in New York City.
This was not the only thing Burroughs did in New York City. After the match on Friday, the former All-American made appearances at Wall Street, ringing the New York Stock Exchange bell, as well as multiple television shows. Burroughs made an appearance on the CNN Early Start morning show, and the NBC today show while in New York City.
Burroughs will continue to train for the London 2012 Olympics. He will be competing from Aug. 5-12 in London for the U.S. wrestling team.
