Future Husker Lapa Wins Arizona Junior Championship

Future Husker men's golfer Kolton Lapa won the Arizona State Junior Stroke Play Championship on July 3 at Longbow Golf Club.

Lapa opened play on the first day with a 1-under-par 70 before firing a 5-under-par 66 in the second round. His two-day 136 total held off Zach Wright of Phoenix by one stroke. Lapa, a Mesa, Ariz., native, made eight birdies in the final round, all of which were on par 4s.

Lapa will join the Nebraska men's golf program in the fall of 2012, along with fellow Arizona golfers Nathan Wong, Aaron Wong, Jimmy Kozikowski and Matt Record.
