Senior, Defensive End
On entering the season with more experience
"I think I am way more comfortable than anything. This summer we had a lot of workouts, and we had a lot of people step up as leaders. Earlier years I was quiet, but this year I feel like I have stepped up and I am more confident."
On Coach Rick Kaczenski
"He has brought more of a sense of urgency to the team and more sense of responsibility for your own specific spot on D. He will ask you how you did instead of telling you how you did. His attitude is black and white, he tells you how it is and he doesn't care if you're a freshman or a senior."
On Coach Kaczenski's philosophy
"Attacking. Everything is attacking with coach. He has changed a little bit with our stances by making us more comfortable."
On overall feeling on the defense going into the season
"I feel like our defense is going to be top 10 in the nation, just because of the depth. Our younger guys are stepping up from D-Line to the secondary. We know the ins and outs of the defensive plays."
On if there is a loud member of the defensive line
"Eric (Martin). We all do what we need to do, but Eric's mouth is always moving. It's really fun to have that and it hypes us up."
On Grant Wistrom speaking to the team on Thursday
"I see why he was so successful. He has a mentality that the guy across from him will not beat him. And he talked to us that effort is the only thing that you can control."
