Huskers Open 2012 Season in Omaha

Lincoln - The Nebraska cross country team competes in its season opener Saturday, Sept. 1, at the UNO/Creighton Classic in Omaha.

David Harris, who enters his first season as Nebraska's head coach, said the Huskers were eager to hit the course competitively for the first time.

"Our kids are excited to get out on the course and wear the N on their chests." Harris said, "We have been training extremely hard up to this point, and we are excited to see how our freshman compete in their first meet."

The Huskers will face Nebraska-Omaha, Creighton, South Dakota, Peru State and Iowa Western at Chili Greens in Omaha. Competition begins at 10 a.m.

Results will be posted on Huskers.com Saturday following the meet.
