The
Nebraska swimming and diving team travels to Brookings, S.D. on Friday, Nov. 9,
for a dual against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits beginning at 4 p.m. The
Huskers earned a 199-93 victory in last season's opener against SDSU. Nebraska
(8-0) is looking to improve to 9-0 both on the season and all-time against the
Jackrabbits.
The
Huskers will return to competition on Saturday, Nov. 10, as they will play host
to Northern Iowa in a dual beginning at 11 a.m. at the Devaney Natatorium. Northern
Iowa (0-3) will be looking for its first dual win on the season either against
Nebraska-Omaha on Friday or Nebraska on Saturday. The Huskers haven't faced the
Panthers in a dual since January of 2007.
Next
week will see the Husker divers travel to Houston, Texas, for the Phil Hansel
Invite Nov.15-17. Meanwhile, the Husker swimmers with head to Topeka, Kan., for
the Kansas Classic Nov. 16-17. After that, the squad will have two weeks to
prepare for its Nov.30-Dec. 02 trek to Iowa City, Iowa, for the Hawkeye
Invitational. The Huskers will then take a month off before returning to the
pool in January for holiday training.

The Nebraska swimming and diving
team defeated the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State, 193-99 on Saturday afternoon
at the Devaney Natatorium. It is the Husker's eighth win all-time against the
Jackrabbits. The Huskers have never lost to the Jackrabbits.
Ten different Huskers contributed
wins on the day. Payton Michaud won both the 1-meter and the 3-meter dive (265.95,
290.40), while Hayley Martin won the 50-yard freestyle (24.94) and the 500-yard
freestyle (53.41). Bailey Pons, Kelly Dunn, Rebekah Land, Shannon Guy, Natalie
Morris, Morgan Flannigan, Kristin Strecker and Ellan Dufour also added wins for
the Huskers on the day.
Ashley Valdez and Morgan McLain
of South Dakota State won the two final individual events of the day for South
Dakota State before the Jackrabbits too the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Huskers will now travel to
Houston, Texas on Oct. 28 for the Rice Invitational. Following the
invite, the Huskers will return to the Devaney Natatorium on Nov. 11 for a
showdown against UNO.

Freshman Hailey Dean and seniors
Lauren Bailey and Kate Wheeler won two events each as the Nebraska swimming and
diving team won the first nine events overall and cruised to an easy
121-81 win over Northern Iowa on Friday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The win improved the Huskers to
5-5 on the season, including a 3-0 head-to-head dual record on the road, while
the Panthers fell to 3-8. It was the first of two meets in two days for the Big
Red as NU will now travel to Ames to take on Iowa State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Many Huskers competed in a wide
array of events, but that didn't slow Nebraska from a quick start after the 400
medley relay team of sophomore C.J. Bray, Dean, senior Bailey Ingles and
sophomore Jenna Stroud won the first event of the meet in 4:03.95, nearly five
seconds ahead of the competition. Dean then went on to win the 50 (25.18) and
100 freestyle (54.25) races to give her three total wins on the day.
Senior Kate Wheeler swam the 200
IM for the first time since last season's dual against Northern Iowa on Oct.
22, 2005 and won the event in 2:13.50, while freshman Colleen Criss (2:16.18)
and Michelle Criss (2:17.06) finished second and third. Wheeler dominated the
1,000 freestyle by 42 seconds (10:23.53) for her other win on the night.
Senior Lauren Bailey broke the
one-minute mark to win 100 butterfly in 59.93 and also took first in the 200
freestyle in a time of 1:54.75. Bailey had not competed in the 100 butterfly in
a regular season meet since her sophomore season on Jan. 28, 2005 against
Nebraska-Omaha/Northern Colorado.
Ingles and freshman Mariah
Hutchinson had Nebraska's remaining two wins as Ingles won the 100 backstroke
(1:01.01), while Hutchinson took the 500 freestyle (5:08.29) ahead of Sarah
Broker, another freshman, in second place (5:16.74).
Following Hutchinson's win in the
500 freestyle the Huskers had clinched the victory and Nebraska swam the final
two events (100 breaststroke and 400 freestyle relay) exhibition.

Cruise Past Coyotes, Down Cyclones (10/26/12)
The Nebraska swimming and diving team
defeated South Dakota (240-59) and Iowa State (176.5-122.5) in their dual meet
that took place Friday afternoon at Iowa State's Beyer Pool.
Nebraska won eight of the
fourteen individual events and both relays on Friday to take the dual meet
victory and improve their record to 8-0 on the season. Junior Bailey Pons led
the way for the Huskers, winning the 200-yard (1:53.56), 500-yard (5:00.71),
and 1,000-yard freestyles (10:17.18).
Senior Hayley Martin also stood
out with wins in the 100-yard backstroke (57.02) and 100-yard freestyle
(51.20). Additionally, Martin was a part of the winning 200-yard medley and
400-yard freestyle relay teams.
Shannon Guy (100-yard butterfly),
Payton Michaud (one-meter dive), and Kailey Harmon (three-meter dive) also
added victories for the Huskers.
Junior Imelda Wistey led the way
for Iowa State, winning the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes, as the Cyclones
defeated the Coyotes 246-53.
