El Paso, Texas - The Nebraska men's golf team is tied for
sixth after 18 holes at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational after play was
suspended due to darkness on Friday.
The Huskers shot 297 in
Monday's first round and are tied with Weber State and Northern Colorado. The
trio of teams is 16 shots off the team lead, which is set by Utah. The second
round was suspended due to darkness at 7:40 p.m. (CT). Only four teams (UT
Arlington, UTEP, Northern Colorado and San Jose State) completed the second
round on Friday.
Kolton Lapa, who won Big Ten
Golfer-of-the-Week honors on Wednesday, led the Huskers on Friday with a 72. The
freshman is tied for 12th with 36 holes to play. Lapa made two
bogeys on the front nine and two birdies on the back nine for his even par
total.
Matt Record is tied for 21st
at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational. The junior fired a 1-over-par 73 in
the first round. Record made six birdies, six pars, five bogeys and one double
bogey on Friday.
Neil Dufford shot a 3-over-par
75 in Friday's opening round. Playing as the only senior in the NU lineup,
Dufford made four birdies, two bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey. Dufford
is tied for 36th.
Sophomore Ross Dickson is
tied for 50th after 18 holes at the Price's Give 'Em Five
Invitational. He shot a 5-over-par 77 on Friday. Dickson made four birdies, six
bogeys and a triple bogey in the first round.
Manuel Lavin posted a
9-over-par 81 on Friday. The junior made one birdie, six bogeys and two double
bogeys in the first round. He is tied for 64th.
The second round is set to
resume at 8:30 a.m. (CT). The final round is slated for a shotgun start at 9:15
a.m.
