Arkansas State Player Quotes

Quarterback Ryan Aplin
On Nebraska's pressure and hits on the quarterback...

"That's how the game goes. Sometimes either you set a wrong protection or their guys just play good defense. There's a clock in your head as a quarterback. You have to know when that clock is up that it's time to get rid of the ball. Sometimes I held it longer than I should have."

On Nebraska's changes and what they did well...
"They ran a lot of the stuff we expected them to run. They are very physical and they run the ball really well. We made plays in space but when it came down to it, we didn't put the points on the board. The defense played outstanding, giving us the ball back and creating turnovers. We have to jump on those opportunities when they give us the ball back."

Cornerback Chaz Scales
On Nebraska's wide receivers...

"(Kenny) Bell is a great receiver. We kind of underestimated him, and I wish him the best of luck the rest of the season."

On Nebraska forcing the defensive backs into one-on-one coverage...
"That's one thing that they took advantage of, putting us in one-on-one coverage with no help. That's something we have to get better at. One-on-one coverage, as a cornerback, that's your job."

On the challenges Taylor Martinez poses as a dual threat quarterback...
"It's always difficult to defend a quarterback that can run and pass, because he can expand the play and make you guard your receiver that much longer. It's hard on the D-line and linebackers when he's scrambling around and they have to chase him around all day. He did a great job at that."
