Huskers Fair Well in First Day at ITA Regional

Minneapolis, Minn.- The mens tennis team had a succesful first day at the ITA Regional Championships competing in qualifying singles, and winning five matches in all.

In first round play Nebraskas Brandon Videtich beat SIUE's Nicholas Vincent 8-5. Scott Elsass notched a win against SDSU's Andrea Boglic 8-1. Gagan Jain fell to Bradleys Kevin Keiner 8-1.

Eric Sock knocked off ORU's Alvarro Gutierrez 6-3; 6-7(8); 1-0,   Tom Blackwell fell in a hard fought battle to the Gophers Eric Frueh 7-5, 6-3. NU's Scott Elsass defeated SIUE's Gary Diaz 6-1; 6-2. Brandon Videtich lost to the Sooners Leonard Stakhovsky 6-1, 6-3.

Scott Elsass fell in the third round to the Sooner's Lawerence Formentera 6-3, 6-1. Eric Sock went on to defeat SLU's Drew Feder 6-3,7-5.

 The Huskers will play tomorrow in open doubles and singles on Sunday. Results will be posted to Huskers.com at the end of the day.
