Lawrence, Kan.- The Nebraska cross country teams
competed in the KU Rim Rock Farm Classic Saturday morning hosted by Kansas
University. The Husker men finished seventh in a 14-team field, while the
Husker women also placed seventh among 15 teams.
Head Coach David Harris really likes how the young Huskers
are competing early in the season, as both Husker teams finished in the top
half of their completion field for the third time in as many meets this season.
“Both the men’s and women’s teams are making nice progress
early in the season.” Harris said, “Each meet is providing a new challenge for
the team, as the competition is getting better and better each week.”
On the men’s side, junior Jarren Heng continued to lead the
young Husker group, finishing 16th overall in a time of 24:20 over
the 8K course. Freshman Jacob Olson was the second Husker to cross the finish
line, placing 46th overall (25:09.0). Olson has started out his
collegiate career on a high note, finishing second on the team the last two
meets.
Lincoln native Sarah Larson was the first Husker to finish
the race, placing 46th overall running a time of 22:23.70 in the 6K
race. Larson has led the way for the Husker women’s team, finishing as the top
Husker runner for the second meet in a row.

2012 season, as Nebraska cross country team will be off this coming week,
returning to competition on October 12 at the Wisconsin adidas Invite. The meet
is regarded as one of the top meets in the country, with over 30 men’s and
women’s teams competing in the race.
