Tulsa- The Nebraska men's tennis team heads to the University of Tulsa to compete for the first mens national title of the season at the 2012 ITA Men's All-American Championships. Eric Sock, Marc Herrmann, and Sebastian Florczyk will represent the Huskers in prequalifying singles Saturday.The tournament runs from Saturday, 29th to Sunday, Oct. 7th
The tournament begins Saturday, 29th with prequalifying matches. Prequalifying matches will continue on Sunday. A field of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams will compete in the main draw on Oct. 4th.
The tournament consists of three draws: pre-qualifying, qualifying and the main draw. Those selected to play in the pre-qualifying draw play their matches on Saturday and Sunday. The participants need to accumulate three victories to advance to the qualifying draw. Monday is a day of rest to allow recovery for those that advance to qualifying play.
Qualifying draw matches are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Players must also capture three wins in qualifying to proceed to the main draw. The main draw begins on Thursday and the matches run through Sunday, October 7.
There will be no consolation bracket for pre-qualifying play but consolation draws will be formed for both the qualifying and main draws. Consulation play will be held simultaneously with regular matches.
