Tulsa, Okla. - The Nebraska men's tennis team won two matches in the singles backdraw for the ITA All-American championships on Sunday.
NU's Marc Herrmann knocked off St. Mary's Jakim Nordstrom 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, while Andre Stenger notched a win against UNLV's Bernard Shoeman 6-1, 6-4. Nebraska's Eric Sock was defeated by Texas A&M's Behzad Minari 6-2, 6-4.
"It was good to see our guys come back and win some matches and continue to gain valuable experience that should help us throughout the year," Nebraska Coach Kerry McDermott said.
Herrmann and Sebastian Florczyk will compete Tuesday in prequalifying doubles. Stenger and Sock will compete Thursday as a doubles pair in the main draw. There will be two rounds of prequalifying doubles. Participants must win both matches in order to advance to the main draw.
