- The Nebraska men's golf team returns to action for the first time since
winning the Fairway Club Invitational on Saturday and Sunday when it heads to
the Weibring Golf Course for the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.
The Huskers won their season-opening tournament for the
second consecutive year at ArborLinks Golf Course two weeks ago, this time
holding off Illinois State by one stroke. Senior Kevin Gillick turned in the
best NU finish, tying for first before losing by scorecard playoff. He will
represent the No. 1 position in the Husker lineup this weekend.
Kolton Lapa will make his second start as a Husker at the
D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate as the No. 2 player. The freshman tied for 23rd
at the Fairway Club Invitational, shooting 231 over three rounds. Lapa, a Mesa,
Ariz., native, carded rounds of 78, 76 and 77 at ArborLinks.
Playing as the No. 3 is Ross Dickson. Dickson, a
sophomore, played as an individual at ArborLinks, earning the first top-10
finish of his career. The London, England native posted 73, 75 and 76 for a
54-hole total of 224.
Senior Jordan Reinertson will play as the No. 4 in the NU
lineup in Illinois. Reinertson was an individual at the Fairway Club Invitational,
finishing 17th at 228 strokes. Representing the No. 5 position will
be freshman Aaron Wong. Wong, who held the 36-hole lead at ArborLinks, tied for
seventh at 223 strokes.
