Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska mens tennis team (3-3) will head to Johnson City, Tenn to play No. 74 East Tennesse State (3-2) and No. 60 Georgia State (6-1) Saturday, Feb. 16. The Huskers will face Georgia State at 10 a.m. and ETSU at 3:00 p.m.

The Huskers are coming off a succesfull weekend at home, improving to 3-3. The weekends only loss was at the hands of No. 41 Drake (7-1). It was a narrow 4-3 loss. The Huskers started out the night capturing the doubles point with three wins, but were unable to close out several close singles matches. Tom Blackwell produced his fifth straight win at singles, improving to a 4-0 spring record.

Nebraska notched four of six singles matches last Sunday against No. 30 VCU (6-3), to capture a thrilling 4-3 upset of the No. 30 team. With the victory, the Huskers improved to 2-3 on the year. The team gained confidence with their first win over a ranked team for the spring dual-match season. Tom Blackwell went 5-0 in his victory over No. 113 Jamie Vazquez 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).

The final matchup was against Creighton (1-2). The Huskers posted five of six singles matches, and swept a trio of wins to claim the doubles point in a 6-1 victory over the Bluejays. The Huskers improved to 3-3 on the young season by posting their second straight win to close the weekend.

Nebraska in the National Rankings

Nebraska began the spring season at No. 74 in the ITA Divison I Men's Tennis Rankings. After falling at No. 36 Louisville, the Huskers slipped out of the top 75. The Huskers were ranked in the top 75 throughout the 2012 season, climbing as high as No. 38. After upsetting No. 30 VCU, the Huskers look to make it back into the top 75.
